As our graduates leave high school to pursue higher education, many are running headlong into a daunting reality: The expense of that education can be overwhelming. A recent report in Forbes revealed that Americans owe about $1.5 trillion in student loan debt – an amount that keeps growing.
In fact, by the time a student pays back each dollar of student loan debt, inflation over time can effectively double the amount owed. We want to help reduce that cost.
Given our 40 years of success here, Great Southeast Flooring America has more than a passing interest in the education of Brevard County students. Our dedication to these schools has its roots in the Green family itself and in our employees. I’m a graduate of Satellite High. Many of our employees and family members also graduated Brevard schools, which served them well. We want to help out students from the institutions that provided us with so much over the years.
After all, Brevard County residents are the reason our business continues to thrive. We’ve sold and installed all styles of luxury vinyl tile, laminate, wood flooring, tile, carpeting and many other types of flooring throughout the area. This community means a lot to us. It always has.
For the past two years, we’ve provided a deserving student at Satellite High School with a $1,000 scholarship to help defray college costs. Last year, we expanded the program to include a student at Rockledge High. But we wanted to do more. So, we’ve greatly expanded the program this year by adding the following schools: Bayside, Cocoa, Cocoa Beach, Eau Gallie, Merritt Island, Melbourne, Palm Bay and Viera. A deserving student at each of these 10 schools will receive $1,000 to help with college expenses next year.

Any student interested in a Great Southeast Flooring America scholarship should contact his or her guidance office to receive an application (or get one directly from our website), which must be submitted back to the guidance office by April 26 with the essay and recommendation.
